Services We Provide
- Consultation: Our doctors will perform an exam and explain the best treatments for your teeth. We will explain endodontic procedures and how they may be able to save your teeth from extraction.
- Non-Surgical Root Canal Therapy: A root canal is a straightforward endodontic procedure that relieves pain and can save your tooth. The doctor opens the tooth and removes all infected material from the crown and root canals. They clean and reshape the inside of the root canals to prevent reinfection. The doctor then refills the tooth with plastic material and seals it against contamination. The restoration finishes with a crown from your family dentist.
- Non-Surgical Root Canal Retreatment: If you had a root canal months or years ago and notice that the tooth hurts again, you may need root canal retreatment. To retreat the tooth, the doctor repeats the procedure and cleans out any remaining infected material. Retreatments are more common when a general dentist performs the original root canal.
- Apicoectomy (Endodontic Surgery): You may need endodontic surgery when the root's tip or apex becomes infected. The doctor opens a flap in the gum, cuts the root tip, removes any infected material, and reseals it to keep out food and saliva. The doctor then stitches the gum flap closed.
- Single-Tooth Internal Bleaching: Occasionally, teeth that received root canals may develop staining or discoloration. The doctor can bleach these teeth from the inside, removing traces of fluids and restoring your beautiful smile.
- Internal Resorption: This problem may stem from dental trauma. The tooth begins to break down from the inside, reabsorbing into the body. To stop this problem, the endodontist removes the pulp, cleanses the root canals, and applies a calcium hydroxide solution.
- Apexogenesis: Occasionally, tooth roots fail to develop correctly. The doctor can introduce a strengthening solution to help the weak roots calcify. Without healthy roots, a child's permanent teeth may fall out.
- External Resorption: If your tooth has become brittle or is beginning to break down, you may have a problem with external resorption. When the body thinks a tooth is infected, it attacks the bone that supports the tooth. This can cause the tooth to loosen and fall out. The doctor can treat this by performing a root canal and treating the tooth with calcium hydroxide.
- Apexification: A child's tooth roots may not develop as they should. This process helps the roots become healthy by helping them strengthen and calcify.
- Laser Endodontics: Laser-assisted procedures are fast, accurate, and gentle. We have received extensive training on the safe use of lasers in endodontics.
- Emergency Treatment: When you are in severe dental pain or have broken or lost a tooth, it can be challenging to find after-hours treatment. Call 407-494-3636 to reach our Emergency After Hours Dental Care Helpline after 8 PM.

Frequently Asked Questions About Endodontic Care
How can a root canal save my tooth?
If your tooth has experienced injury, trauma, or severe decay that is too deep to be repaired with a filling, you may need a root canal. Root canals can end infection inside a tooth and stabilize it enough to receive a dental crown. The alternative is having your tooth extracted, requiring an expensive procedure and restoration with a bridge, implant, or denture.
Why should I see an endodontist instead of a general dentist for a root canal?
Endodontists have performed thousands more root canals than general dentists. They have a deeper knowledge of tooth anatomy and how to remove an infection from even the smallest hiding places. While some general dentists have excellent skills, others sometimes leave material behind. If this happens, you may need retreatment or an apicoectomy. To get it done right the first time, see an endodontist.
How do I know if I need a root canal?
- Severe tooth pain, especially when biting, chewing, or putting pressure on the tooth
- Lingering tooth pain
- Extreme sensitivity to heat and cold
- Swelling or pus on the gum line
- Swelling of the face or jaw
- Tooth discoloration
