Dr. Mahmoud Mona, DMD., PhD., MS.

Dr. Mahmoud Mona is an endodontist, a researcher, and an educator.  His passion for endodontics and dental microsurgery is a result of his desire to alleviate patients’ pain.  He continuously investigates and applies the latest scientific discoveries in his practice while striving to provide an exemplary clinical experience to his patients. His main goal is to save the natural tooth while delivering a pain-free root canal treatment to his patients.

Dr. Mona graduated from the University of Florida where he received a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology with Suma Cum Laude.  He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine, DMD, degree from the College of Dentistry combined with his PhD from the College of Medicine at the University of Florida.  He spent over 4 years of his training conducting research in stem cell biology and tissue regeneration.  During his tenure, he received multiple honorary awards including, the Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology prestigious award and the Excellence in Research award. 

Following graduation, Dr. Mona completed a two-year specialty training in Endodontics at the University of Florida College of Dentistry graduating with a master’s in medical sciences (MSc.) in the area of dental proteomics and biomarkers. During his residency, he earned multiple awards including the AAE2022 Excellence in Research Award and Clinical Excellence in Endodontics award from the UF College of Dentistry. 

Dr. Mona is currently an active faculty at the University of Florida College of Dentistry Department of Endodontics. He is also a member of multiple organizations including the American Dental Association (ADA), the American Association of Endodontists (AAE), the Florida Dental Association (FDA), and the Central Florida District Dental Association (CFDDA). 

Dr. Mona promises to employ his over 15 years of advanced education to provide his patients with the highest quality of care using the latest cutting-edge technology.  In his free time, he enjoys working in underprivileged community clinics such as “AMCC”, “We Care” and “FreeDOM Clinic”.  When not working or teaching, Dr. Mona enjoys spending time with his wife and two boys.  He loves playing basketball, tennis, ping pong, biking, and cooking.
